Overview
The flares are 15-minute road flares.
To get the most screen accurate look, you'll want to get an older stock of flares since the newer ones lack the pull tab on the plastic cap. Additionally, you can paint the flares a deeper red to match more closely to the film.
In the video below, around the 6:14 mark, we discuss the flares that can be found in the King Pelican Case.

Scene Locations
The flares can be seen inside the King Pelican Case in the back of Explorer 05, and they are used by Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm in order to distract the T-Rex from the kids.

Installation
The flares are installed inside the King Pelican Case in the middle between the MBS-410 Searchlight (left) and the Kidde Fire Extinguisher (right).
It is assumed that there are at least 2 layers of flares in each slot inside the Pelican case (6 in total).
